On Saturday 2nd April we celebrated the launch of A Soldier, a Dog and a Boy here in store with illustrator Phil Lesnie.

Phil kicked off the event with a wonderful reading of the picture book, complete with character voices and even a very adorable French accent!

The reading was followed by a live drawing event – attendees had been invited to bring in photos of their pets and Phil proceeded to draw as many as he could. Which, as it turned out was ALL of them! Here are some photos of the painting and drawing process, as well as the end results and happy faces after.

FUN FACT: Did you know that superstar illustrator Phil Lesnie is a long-standing and much-loved member of our Kino family?? True story. You can often see Phil shelving books and chatting to customers in his favourite section – Kids. 😉
