A scholar of late Gothic and Renaissance art, Karet reviews and assesses all drawings attributed to Stefano da Verona (1375-ca. 1438), one of the most important figures of the International Gothic style and one of the first draftsmen for whom a sizable number of drawings survive. She sorts through an accumulation of confused attributions, in the process detailing the history of collecting drawings, and comes up with 17 drawings that connect directly to the artist's known paintings. These drawings are presented with thorough annotations as are 34 drawings which she rejected. Her research will interest art historians as well as scholars of the Renaissance in general, and those interested in Humanism. Oversize: 9x11.5<">.
