Wheatley describes some recent discoveries in scientific fields such as biology, chaos theory, and quantum physics and explains how understandings gleaned from this "new science" may be applied to the world of organizations and management. The emphasis throughout is on creating organizations that are adaptive, creative, and resilient in times of chaos. The third edition features a new chapter in which the author reflects on lessons learned from recent news stories. Wheatley has been a management professor and consultant since 1973.
